How is Karolina Muchova playing at the 2026 Miami Open, what joy it is to see her competing against the best. After winning her first WTA 1000 title a month ago, the Czech threatens to reach another final.

She's already in the semifinals of the 2026 Miami Open after overcoming matches of all types, from some very tight ones to others more straightforward. Yesterday, for example, she had to toughen up in key moments to defeat Mboko, who has been growing in major tournaments. Knowing that one more victory will return her to the top 10 in the world rankings, Karolina Muchova discussed on Tennis Channel how she is managing this journey since the season began, how she has been rebuilding her confidence, and to what extent that Doha title influenced her belief in her chances once again.

Another great victory in Miami

"Whenever you face the best players on the circuit, you know that matches will be decided by a few points, in a couple of games; ultimately, the key is to be better in those moments. Today, the key for me was to stay bold on the court, be active and aggressive in those deuces we had, seizing the opportunities I had to break the serve and not stop being aggressive at any moment."

The challenge of choosing the best option

"This matter is tricky because the game moves very fast all the time, sometimes even when you're not fully concentrated. This can lead you to pick the worst stroke possible, that's the truth. It's as if I had five options and selected the worst one. At that moment, I think: 'Okay, next time I have to go for a simpler path'."

Rivalry with Victoria Mboko

"Surely, that match we had in Doha a month ago helped me in some way, as we had never faced each other before. We hadn't even trained together, so I had no idea what her game was like. Now I was aware of her strengths and weaknesses, and that helped. Honestly, against opponents who hit the ball so hard, I try to hit hard too, stay close to the baseline, and play by feel."

Satisfied with her adaptation in Miami

"Since the first round, I've been playing well, even on the different courts where they have placed me, as each one is different. Some are faster, while others are not, so I've had to adapt. I prefer it when the conditions are fast, with heat; I think this suits my game best. I'm very happy to be in the semifinals for the first time in this tournament; I'm trying to take good care of my body and maintain a positive mindset, meeting each recovery deadline and finding the balance between rest and training."

Karolina Muchova explains how the title in Doha changed everything

"Undoubtedly, everything is much more enjoyable now. My goal was to win any title at this point, and I finally did it in Doha. I came to that tournament with the simple idea of playing and ended up lifting the 'Golden Falcon' on the last day. It's a good trophy, very beautiful too. I didn't expect it, but I felt better with each passing match. Before that final, I was very nervous since I had never taken that step in a major final before. When I won the match point, I felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders, I believed in myself, and it happened, so it was a very nice moment."
