Rafa Jódar enters uncharted territory. His rise in the ATP ranking has been so rapid and unexpected over the past months that a new and exciting horizon opens up. However, it must be approached with prudence and without haste. Freed, relaxed, and without pressure: that's how he approaches his debut on the grass court tour, his first time in British lands, on a completely new surface for which he will seek optimal preparation.

That's why the player from Leganés has decided to participate in several tournaments ahead of Wimbledon 2026. There's no time to waste, and the Tennis Cathedral awaits: Jódar will compete at Queen's, but also at ATP Eastbourne 2026, held the week prior to the third Grand Slam of the year. He has never played a professional match on this surface, but this fact doesn't intimidate him; on the contrary, it fills him with ambition, excitement, and that mix of innocent nerves of someone new to the experience.

Will Rafa Jódar excite us on grass?

In a conversation with the colleagues at Movistar, the player from Madrid opened up and gave a glimpse of what his journey to the UK will be like. "I'm very eager. Roland Garros gave me a lot of confidence, now I know a different surface is coming, but I will try to approach it in the best way possible. I have two tournaments to prepare for Wimbledon, so I am very excited to face it in the best possible way. It will be my first Wimbledon, so I really look forward to playing my first Grand Slam on grass. Match by match, as always, and with the same mentality as always, giving my all on the court," said the current top-25 ATP.

After a clay court season packed with matches and great results, with hardly any rest weeks available, the player from Madrid needed to disconnect... and what better way to do it than at home, even stopping by his club, Tenis Chamartín, to attend the opening of a W15 women's tournament. "I'm spending a few days in Madrid, helping myself to disconnect, seeing family and friends, whom I don't get to see much when I travel. They are helping me a lot. I'm also getting ready for the grass court season before heading to London."
