Novak Djokovic has once again shown the immense admiration he feels for Serena Williams with some touching statements dedicated to the American, whom he praised both for her legacy and for her return to the court after becoming a mother and staying away from professional tennis for several years.

The Serbian, who knows firsthand what it means to stay at the top for so many years, wanted to highlight the effort being made by one of the greatest legends in sporting history and asked fans to enjoy each of her appearances on the court.

"Let's enjoy and celebrate who she is, what she has achieved, what she is doing now, after having two children and after being away from professional tennis for so many years. It's a gift for us, for anyone who loves tennis, for anyone who loves sports, for anyone who admires Serena and her legacy. And whatever happens, whether she wins or loses. It's already epic. That's what I told her personally at Wimbledon. And that's what I truly feel in my heart."

Djokovic also explained that he understands perfectly the challenge of continuing to compete at the highest level after having achieved practically all possible major goals, a situation with which he identifies. "I want her to feel happy and joyful on the court because, in a way, to some extent, I know how she feels, keep trying your best at that age when you've already achieved everything you can. But just seeing her on the court is already a spectacle for the eyes."
