Iga Swiatek is the name of the moment in Asia. She conquered the title at the WTA Seoul after four displays of power during the past week, and now she arrives at the WTA Beijing 2025 with the same strength and the guarantee of feeling like the favorite. She moved on to the second round after defeating local player Yue Yuan in just 76 minutes (6-0 6-3).
The season of Iga Swiatek has gone from strength to strength. After a start to the season where she was completely lost and without solutions both in her game and mental state, the Polish player ended the Grand Slam year with the Wimbledon title. Furthermore, the good streak continued on hard courts with the WTA Cincinnati and the WTA Seoul 2025. Although Aryna Sabalenka also has a lot to say in the upcoming tournaments, Swiatek's game surprises with the effectiveness and power she displays in all circumstances, and in this WTA Beijing 2025, she is already running smoothly. The Polish player attended a press conference to assess her good form.

- Return to Asia
"My return to Asia has been great, and also to China. I love this stadium, it's beautiful, and I feel good on this court, very solid. However, this first match hasn't been easy despite what the scoreboard reflects because I felt all the games in the second set very tight. The conditions are very similar to the previous years, so that makes me happy."
- Is it different on the court?
"I don't behave differently because I'm the world number two, and I don't think about it every day, especially on match days. Maybe I'm somewhat different because I'm older and have more experience. At the beginning of the year, I did think too much about the top spot and had to talk about it on Instagram. But that was only for a few weeks, and I can't let it change my way of playing, it wouldn't be healthy and would affect me too much."
- Current confidence
"The whole season is made up of the small steps I take every day. I focus each time to get better, and this first match has been very good to experience the court and feel the conditions. There will be other rivals with different styles, and just because I played well today doesn't mean I'll play well the rest of the week. I have to be ready for every challenge."
- Opinion on the calendar
"I think we play too much, and the calendar is crazy. I try to divide the year into each part of the season and focus on what's happening; otherwise, it's hard. After a four-week preseason and eight days of vacation, if I look at the end of December at what awaits me in the next eleven months, it's overwhelming. It's best to go step by step because the calendar is demanding and difficult."
