Alexandra Eala continues to gain experiences and break her ceiling on a WTA circuit that offers no rest. Putting behind a stage of the year that has brought her closer than ever to fans in her country, scattered and filling in mass events near Southeast Asia (Australia, Abu Dhabi), the Filipino now faces the clay court season with renewed spirit and a desire to demonstrate her complete adaptability to this surface.

Eala will start her journey in Europe at WTA Linz 2026, where she will make her first appearance against local player Julia Grabher, whom she knows from having "trained several times" and for being a truly strong player physically. However, one of the big dangers of this event lies in the short rest time to switch from hard court to clay, as she pointed out in a conversation with Dyan Castillejo, a former Filipina player and celebrity.

"She is in very good shape. I expect a great battle, I am ready. It will be my first match on clay, so I am excited. However, between Miami and this tournament, I haven't had much rest time: I think the circuit doesn't give you too much time to prepare for clay after the hard court season", stated Eala emphatically, also providing details on her last week routine.

"After Miami ended, I had a couple of days off, within a whole week, to take a little break. Then I got back on the court: we have been working a lot on feeling the ball, especially on footwork and mobility. I'm trying to feel better on the court, I feel that I move better than last year, so I'm happy about that", pointed out the Filipino.

To what extent is Toni Nadal important in her team? Eala defines it this way

Alexandra has enjoyed the supervision of Toni Nadal during her recent training block, a familiar sight for those curious onlookers who gather at the Rafa Nadal Academy. Rafael's uncle has been very involved in Eala's growth and progression since the Filipino started appearing on the circuit, and now she is the one grateful for his work and still amazed at being able to benefit from his advice.

"It's fantastic and I feel truly privileged to have Toni as part of my team. If you had told me this years ago, I would have completely lost my mind, I wouldn't have believed you. It's fantastic: he has that knowledge and is able to help my team immensely, providing all that necessary experience", affirmed the Filipino, who will debut today at the Austrian tournament, always accompanied by up to two coaches who are part of the Academy's structure. We will be closely following her successes on clay.
