Rafael Nadal seems to have gotten a taste for returning to the tennis courts. After his exhibition a few weeks ago at his academy in Manacor, where he was joined by David Ferrer, Carlos Moyà, Richard Gasquet, Andy Murray, Dominic Thiem, Marat Safin, and Fabio Fognini, the 22-time Grand Slam champion has confirmed his participation in the MGM Slam in Las Vegas on February 28, 2027.

"I have very fond memories of 2024 playing in Las Vegas. The atmosphere and the fans were amazing, I can't wait to compete in The MGM Slam, so I'll see you in Las Vegas," the Mallorcan stated in a video shared on his social media platform X.

For now, Nadal's opponent for the Las Vegas event remains unknown, but it is known that it will be at the same venue where he played against Carlos Alcaraz in the Netflix exhibition in February 2024, when the Manacor native was approaching his last season as a professional tennis player. In that matchup, which was a full-fledged exhibition match, the Murcian claimed victory with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 12-10.

This will be Nadal's second exhibition since his retirement

Since his retirement in November 2024, Nadal stated that he managed to go over a year without picking up a racket. However, he has gradually been seen at his academy with occasional training sessions to regain his form. So far, he has already had two exhibitions, but the tennis world hopes for a possible exhibition tour alongside Roger Federer.

Something that the Swiss has hinted at a couple of times: “I imagine combining it with a good cause, raising funds for my foundation and inspiring young local players. Nothing concrete is planned yet, but I see that interesting things could come up,” the Swiss confessed a few months ago.
