Dayana Yastremska has shared one of the toughest episodes she has experienced since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. The Ukrainian tennis player explained on her social media that an apartment belonging to her family in Odesa was destroyed during a new Russian attack on the city last night.

“Last night… this apartment belonged to our family. This is what the ‘Russian world’ looks like. A direct hit from a Kalibr missile,” Yastremska wrote alongside several images of the damage caused to the building.

 

 

According to local authorities, the upper floors of the residential block were completely destroyed after the nighttime attack. At least 23 people were injured and had to be hospitalized, six of whom were directly affected by the damage suffered in that building.

Among the rubble, Yastremska also showed a particularly symbolic detail. Practically the only thing that was saved from the apartment was a Roland Garros towel, which appeared among the debris after the explosion. An image that the player shared as a reflection of the contrast between her life as a professional tennis player and the reality her family continues to face in Ukraine.

 

 

This is not the first time the war has directly impacted Yastremska’s environment. The Ukrainian player had previously explained that the building where her grandmother lives was damaged during another Russian attack on New Year's Eve in 2024.
