This is how Alcaraz's preparation is going: latest videos before traveling to the United States

Carlitos is making the most of his final days of training by increasing the intensity, incorporating specific volley exercises... and even a new look.

There is optimism and smiles surrounding Carlos Alcaraz. The latest videos of the Murcian's preparation radiate optimism... and these are undoubtedly the best news. The recovery and evolution of the Murcian seem to be going well, entering a new phase as the days approach for his return at the ATP Cincinnati 2026. After several days where Alcaraz's team progressively increased the intensity in training, no longer hesitating to unleash his wrist from the baseline, the latest training session has shown us a Carlitos who is unafraid of the extremely high temperatures in Murcia (with 40 degrees Celsius, in the midst of an orange alert) and who is already daring with specific exercises, such as volleys.

Seeing the Murcian training at a high intensity despite the intense heat that bathes Murcia is great news, a sign that his physical condition seems to be holding up. We learned from last season's edition that a good adaptation to humidity and sun exposure are crucial ingredients for success, for example, in Cincinnati: Alcaraz was the best survivor in an edition marked by high temperatures... and this year, in which it doesn’t seem we will have a different script, the Murcian will not change an iota of his preparation under the intense Murcian heat.

Alcaraz's training continues at a good pace

The Murcian spent a couple of days in Alicante testing himself with high-level sparring and continued today his conditioning in his hometown, with more specific work involving his coaches this time. We have seen Carlos completing exercises, for example, related to volleys, one of his great weapons in conditions as fast as those he might find on American hard courts. His training is aimed at maximum performance in Flushing Meadows: balls like those he will have at the US Open, high temperatures, and work under the Murcian sun, movements that strengthen parts of his game that should shine on the blue surface.

We also see an Alcaraz who does not ease up in lateral movements, increasing the intensity with every hit while running with his forehand. This was one of the main concerns of the public once the first videos of Carlos training came to light... and the progressive loads seem to be successful, showing us a Carlos with more and more spark and less fear to unleash his shots.

During these days, his training has been accompanied by an excellent sparring partner: Pablo Martínez Gómez, a Murcian, 20 years old and currently #620 in the ATP ranking, a player who has experienced a significant rise in the rankings in recent months, even breaking into the Challenger circuit (where he has already accumulated victories). The reason he doesn't have more experience or fame yet? Pablo competes in American collegiate tennis, specifically for Vanderbilt University, which makes him a perfect sparring partner (he is fully acclimated to playing on hard courts and in American conditions). A sign that Alcaraz doesn’t do things halfway and wants a perfect preparation for the last Grand Slam of the year, with an increasingly anticipated return that hopefully won’t be delayed much longer.
