Wimbledon 2026 is just around the corner, and one of the main and most important events in the action is undoubtedly the draw. Great stories are sometimes born from the luck of the matchups, and the tomb of great champions is dug, and capricious fate works in mysterious ways... although there will be, at least, some frameworks to work on: we already know the eight main seeded players for the tournament.

You know how it all works: first and second favorites on different sides of the draw, third and fourth title contenders on one of those sides. In this case, the honor of leading the list of title contenders belongs to Jannik Sinner, the clear dominator of the circuit in recent months but without any Slams to his name, and Alexander Zverev, the one who took advantage of the chaos in Paris to confirm himself as the main alternative to Jannik, the man ready to leap should the Italian falter at any point.

Sinner could face Djokovic in the quarterfinals: what other major clashes could happen at Wimbledon?

Felix Auger-Aliassime and Ben Shelton will be the third and fourth seeded players, respectively; the Canadian collected enough points in Paris (quarterfinalist) to remain close to the top, and the grass speed can be lethal for his serve. Perhaps, though, he holds the same level of favoritism as Shelton, who is on the rise after winning the title in Stuttgart. One of the two will be the potential opponent for Sinner in the semifinals.

However, the real deal will be seen in the potential quarterfinals of sheer excitement. Here, as was the case in Roland Garros, the name of Novak Djokovic emerges: perhaps a significant portion of the Serbian's chances to win the 25th depend on avoiding Jannik until a hypothetical final, being aware that they could face each other as early as in the quarterfinals. Currently, Nole would be the 7th seed, although Daniil Medvedev could surpass him if he reaches the final in Halle; either way, regardless of position, he is the big name to avoid for the top four seeded players.

To complete the puzzle, Taylor Fritz, who just defeated Shelton in the Halle quarters and appears as a man reborn, spurred on by the comfort he feels on grass, and Alex de Miñaur will be the sixth and fifth seeded players, respectively, unless Daniil claims the title in German lands, in which case the Russian would rise to sixth place. Perhaps Demon is the one in the worst form; he just suffered a surprising defeat to Brandon Nakashima in the Queen's quarters, and his season has been truly inconsistent by the standards we are used to.
