Felix Auger Aliassime is one of the main protagonists of these two weeks at ATP Shanghai 2025. Despite the tournament being too much for many due to the intense humidity and strong daytime heat, the Canadian player remains strong in the draw, already in the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000.

The current world number 13 scored a big victory over Lorenzo Musetti to advance, a match that gave him great confidence, especially with his serving level. Felix Auger Aliassime himself was even surprised by his incredible tennis, though he confessed he is aware that he needs to continue performing well to overcome his next challenge in Shanghai.

"I knew how I wanted to play, but it's another thing to step onto the court, execute it, and make it happen. I served wonderfully, probably at the best level all year. At times, it was crazy. Everything else I tried was working very well, I was moving well, so, of course, I'm pleased with my game," said Felix Auger Aliassime in a press conference after finishing his match at the ATP Shanghai 2025.

"I'm very solid with my serve overall. And then, yes, I was able to save some dangerous situations that allowed me to win in straight sets. It doesn't always happen, but obviously, you have to take advantage when it does. You have to acknowledge the merit, know to step up and deliver when needed and stay calm under pressure. I'm sticking with that, without a doubt. I hope it continues like this while I'm in the tournament."

With his triumph over Lorenzo Musetti, Felix becomes the first Canadian tennis player to break the quarterfinals barrier in the Masters 1000 held in China, something that surprised Auger Aliassime considerably: "It's not such a big deal, but it's better than what I'm used to. I'm always the one losing in negative stats. It's nice to hear a positive statistic about me and my game, but it doesn't mean much."

- What concerns Felix Auger Aliassime the most about Arthur Rinderknech?

"His serve. He has a great service, you have to be careful with that. It's hard to win a match with a forehand or a backhand, but with a serve, you can stay in the match and win matches with that single shot. If he does it well, he can take me far in sets. The two times we played this year, we had tiebreaks. This time it's going to be different, he's ready to play. He's going to be super motivated to win. I need to expect the best from him, no doubt."
