Jannik Sinner is marking the pace of world tennis during this season. With his triumph at Wimbledon 2026 after defeating Alexander Zverev in the final, the Italian not only retained the London crown and clinched his fifth Grand Slam but also extended his lead over Carlos Alcaraz in the 'Big Titles' ranking.

This statistic includes the most prestigious tournaments on the circuit: the four Grand Slams, the ATP Finals, the nine Masters 1000, and the Olympic gold. Thanks to his triumph at the All England Club, Sinner now reaches 17 Grand Slam titles, two more than Alcaraz, who remains at 15.

The most striking aspect is the speed at which the world number one has built this advantage. At the beginning of February, just after the Australian Open, it was the Spaniard who led this particular race by 15-11. However, the trend has completely changed over the past few months.

Since then, seven Grand Slam titles have been disputed, and Sinner has won six of them. The Italian has had a nearly perfect season in the highest category tournaments, prevailing in the Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Madrid, and Rome Masters 1000, and now at Wimbledon. A dominance that has also allowed him to complete the Golden Masters in his career by already winning all nine ATP Masters 1000.

With the London title, Sinner also equals the six Grand Slam titles he already won during the 2024 season, the best record of his career. And there are still six major tournaments to be played before the end of the year, so both figures could continue to grow.

His ability to respond in big matches is also reflected in another statistic. Sinner only needs, on average, 4.2 appearances in a Grand Slam to lift one, a number that already surpasses the historical effectiveness of Roger Federer (4.4). His next goal will be to approach Carlos Alcaraz (3.9), while Novak Djokovic (3.3) and Rafael Nadal (3.5) continue to lead this efficiency ranking.

While the entire circuit awaits the return of Carlos Alcaraz to competition, the Italian continues to enlarge his legend and swell a record that is beginning to reach very high levels.
