Djokovic is not at his best right now, as after winning the title in Tokyo, he lost in his debut at the ATP Shanghai against Hubert Hurkacz and in his second match in Basel against Jan-Lennard Struff. 2026 has been marked by physical issues for the Serbian player, especially since summer, so he will need to give it his all in Paris if he hopes to qualify for Turin and compete against the 8 best players on the circuit.
To do this, he will have to overcome the winner of the Basel tournament, Valentin Vacherot. The Monegasque player rose to stardom last year after winning ATP Shanghai, going from being a Challenger player to proving he had the level to be among the best in the circuit. This year, he has shown that his talent was not a fluke, and in Paris, he will attempt to take down Novak as he did in China last year before lifting the trophy in their only match against each other.
