The only doubt surrounding Novak Djokovic is physical. In Tokyo, he already showed that he has the tennis to beat rivals like Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, or Alex De Minaur, although he did request physio several times again, raising alarms. After a week full of high-intensity matches, it will be important to see what his condition is in Shanghai, as if he is fit, he is a serious candidate to lift the title.
In the case of Hurkacz, the last few months have been a struggle for him in recovering his form after suffering several injuries in recent years. The Polish player is always a threat as he has been part of the top 10 for quite some time, and despite not being at his best on this type of surface, he can beat anyone. He has one of the best serves on the circuit, volleys well, and hits powerful shots from both forehand and backhand from the baseline. Therefore, anything can happen.
