I'm not saying that Nick should have received a longer sanction. I don't believe that at all. What I'm saying is that I wish I had had the same help and understanding available to me.

I made a mistake and deserved to face the consequences, but losing two years of my career was incredibly tough. At that time, I was not offered treatment or a clear path to return. I was simply sidelined from the sport and left to deal with everything that entailed.

I'm glad the system has changed and now focuses more on helping players, but it's hard not to wonder how my life and career could have been if those same options had existed for me.
