Not too long ago, during the 2026 ATP Barcelona Open, the tennis world had its eyes on a player with a strong presence, electrifying shots, and plenty of charisma. The clay court season seemed to confirm to the world that Arthur Fils had reached the absolute elite to stay, confirming that with injuries behind him and the privileged presence of Goran Ivanisevic by his side, the Frenchman was going to be a constant presence in the later rounds of major tournaments.

Unfortunately, all that momentum saw an abrupt halt with the arrival, as expected, of injuries. Cursed injuries, Arthur thought as he fell victim to a new issue in his left knee that not only forced him to withdraw from Rome, but also sidelined him for Roland Garros. Seeing the tremendous draw opportunity that opened up for many second-tier players, Fils was probably one of those who suffered the most watching the tournament on TV. Yet, he immediately shifted his focus to a new event for which the world was unsure if he would be truly ready.

Can Fils play at Wimbledon? The answer seems to be positive

Wimbledon 2026 is just around the corner, and Arthur Fils's presence seems assured. It's never certain given his history, but the vibes are positive, with the Frenchman already thinking about shining on the grass courts of London. Today, he returned to competition at The Boodles exhibition, defeating Jakub Mensik in a high-paced match that ended 10-8 in a super tiebreak. More importantly, he showed no signs of discomfort, appearing close to his 100% in this first test after being off the courts for over a month and a half.

"I picked up the racket just ten days ago in Monaco, with Lapo (Bacherini, his physical trainer) and Chris (Seiler, his physiotherapist). Before that, I spent two weeks in Munich with a lot of physical work, trying to get back to my best shape. It's very important to play matches before Wimbledon, especially on grass. It had been two years since I played on this surface, but today I felt very, very good. I played great in a fantastic atmosphere, Jakub and I had a great match, a very good battle. I had a great time", expressed the French star with a smile, highly satisfied with his performance.
