Federico Cinà finished the 2025 season ranked number 237 in the ATP Rankings. At 18 years old, the young Italian made the big leap to the professional circuit with very few fears, prepared to take on his rivals. Federico played his first tournament in this category in Miami, where he secured his first ATP victory.

As months went by, Cinà proved he had come to stay. In addition to continuing to stand out in Challengers, his presence in the qualifying rounds of Grand Slams like the US Open confirms the evolution of what could be the next star of Italian tennis.

"I started 2025 with low expectations, as last year I played very few Challengers, only won a few. However, from the beginning of the season, I felt that I was at a good level, I saw that I could perform well. Then I also had my first experiences at the ATP level. They weren't easy, but I think I handled them well. I am happy with how they went," said Federico in an interview with Spazio Tenis, as reported by Ubitennis.

"Overall, I am happy with how 2025 went. It was a new year, different from the others, more challenging with new goals, but I believe I handled them well. There are times of the year when it is not guaranteed that things will go well. For example, the last period was a bit weak. Sometimes, I encountered some difficulties, both physical and mental. Occasionally, there are tough situations, but you have to endure and try to manage them. Sometimes I face difficulties, which is why I need to improve even more in this aspect."

The differences between the Challenger circuit and the ATP

"Even at the Challenger level, it is very difficult because there are players who really want to win. Everyone is very competitive, despite being in two very different circuits. However, I don't think there is much difference between them. The aspect that I find most challenging about my opponents is their physical preparation, they are all very complete, but also mentally prepared. When you step onto the court, you know you have to win the match. They don't help you or give it to you. In fact, they see my small stature and perhaps come with even more desire to win."

Cinà and the pressure

"I have improved, also because certain experiences are inevitable. Playing against older players, or even just being around older people, helps you grow as a person. I also feel better in communication. I feel the pressure of being the new promise, but I also like being able to talk about myself, but I have to stay calm, I have to put in the effort by training without too many expectations. If I start having them at this age, wanting to do everything too soon, I might lose my way a bit. It's better to think about the daily routine and try to do your things well."
