Few players in history can boast of having had as much success in their first professional season as Joao Fonseca. The Brazilian's achievement is admirable, finishing the calendar year within the top 25 at just 19 years old. After competing in most major tournaments, Joao confessed in an interview which tournament had the greatest impact on him once he had reflected on it.

"I really felt at home in the Laver Cup, I made friends with all the players, had the opportunity to train with them, although some were closer than others. I connected a lot with De Minaur and Cerúndolo because they speak Spanish, but I was also pleasantly surprised by the Americans, Opelka and Fritz are two excellent guys. It was an unexpected experience, I had never interacted with other players in that way, to the point of becoming friends," the Brazilian tells ESPN.
