This will be the ATP calendar for 2026

The upcoming season will bring several novelties: it will start a week later (there will be no tennis at the end of December), Estoril returns, Metz disappears, and much more.

The ATP leaves nothing to chance and has already presented its official calendar for the 2026 season, a roadmap that brings significant changes and some novelties that will excite players and fans alike. We are still in the second month of competition in 2025 but, with just a few details pending regarding licenses for a couple of tournaments, we can already make plans for a season, that of 2026, which will start a week later than usual.

Perhaps the most interesting and surprising news regarding the 2026 calendar is that the season will kick off on Friday, January 2nd with the United Cup, meaning we are leaving behind starting the year in December, a quirk we had become accustomed to. Additionally, it gives players an extra week of rest in the preseason, allowing many to spend Christmas and New Year's at home. Another consequence of this decision, of course, is that the 2026 Australian Open is delayed by a week: the first Grand Slam of the year will start on Sunday, January 18, 2026, six days later than this year (it started on January 12, 2025).

CHALLENGES FOR BUENOS AIRES, MARSEILLE MOVES, AND ESTORIL RETURNS

That "delayed" week compared to the usual calendar will be compensated for in February, with a more congested schedule than usual. If this season had five weeks of competition between the end of the Australian Open and the start of the first Masters 1000 of the year, Indian Wells, the 2026 calendar reduces this competition span to four weeks. The major casualties of this change are the Marseille tournament, which moves to an unusual date (October) and the Buenos Aires tournament, which will be played just one week after Australia and will compete with two 500 tournaments (part of the Rotterdam and Dallas week, while this year it competed with Delray Beach and Marseille itself). Delray Beach, by the way, is the other major victim, as it will have to share a slot in a week with two other ATP 500 tournaments, Doha and Rio de Janeiro.

The clay-court swing remains unchanged, with the same number of tournaments as in 2025, in addition to the same position in the official calendar. The two-week Masters 1000s continue, with Madrid and Rome standing out as must-attend events, and Hamburg will keep its spot as it debuted this year, the week before Roland Garros (replacing the defunct Lyon tournament). The Parisian Grand Slam will start on a date identical to this season (May 24), occupying the same week in the calendar.

The ATP will give renewed emphasis to the post-Wimbledon summer swing. After a grass-court swing that also maintains the same number of tournaments, along with its calendar position, players will have three weeks of rest before returning to action at the Montreal tournament, in contrast to the two weeks of tournaments that 2025 offers before heading to Canada. This is where the Estoril tournament emerges, debuting for the first time in the summer and returning to the ATP calendar in the week of July 20, sharing the week with Kitzbühel and Los Cabos. Additionally, the ATP leaves room in the calendar for a 250 category tournament (whose location is still unknown) in the week of the ATP 500 in Washington, just before the North American hard court swing.

US OPEN DELAYED AND A GRAND SEASON FINALE

Adding an extra week in summer will result in the US Open being delayed a week, similar to the Australian Open. The last Grand Slam of the year will begin on August 31 and will occupy the first two weeks of September in full, pushing the end of the season back seven days compared to 2025. In the end-of-season indoor swing, a calendar regular like the Metz tournament disappears, giving way in November to Stockholm, which in turn was displaced due to Marseille's date change. A pretty messy situation for the final stretch of the season, which also offers several cities the opportunity to host a 250 tournament in the week prior to the ATP Finals (a slot filled this year by the Belgrade tournament). Here is the complete calendar with all dates and weeks.
