Talking about Marat Safin is talking about one of the greats. The multiple Grand Slam champion and former world number 1 had a remarkable career that earned him a place in the history of tennis. Holger Rune now proudly shares a statistic with the Russian, as the Danish player is the youngest since Safin to reach the semifinals of the ATP Rolex Paris Masters more than once (2022 and 2024), just like Safin did at 19 and 20 years old consecutively in the 1999 and 2000 editions. Holger achieved this feat at 19 and 21 years old.
