Qinwen Zheng crushed Kamila Rakhimova in her debut at WTA Beijing 2024 (6-1 6-1) and attended a press conference where she expressed great joy in playing in her country. She wanted to thank the atmosphere and affection shown by the Beijing fans following the gold medal she won at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Chinese player was clear about her feelings on the court: "The atmosphere at the US Open was not as good as what we have seen here today."

She was also asked about the promising future of Chinese tennis, with six players in the WTA TOP 100 and three in the ATP: "I am 21 years old, a player of this new generation, so I don't think I am the right person to answer that. However, I have always believed that Chinese tennis will eventually take a central stage on the world scene," Zheng concluded.

Qinwen Zheng will play her second-round match at WTA Beijing 2024 against the Argentine Nadia Podoroska, with the Chinese player being the clear favorite.
