Tennis players suffer every day through their social networks from a large amount of insults and offensive messages when things are not going well in their matches. This is something that tennis is trying to stop and condemn, as Caroline García has done in recent hours. The Frenchwoman has wanted to show the world some messages that internet users have left on her social media after her recent defeat at the US Open. "I worry about thinking of the younger players who are emerging and who have to go through this. People who have not fully developed as human beings yet and who could really be affected by this hatred. You might think it doesn't hurt us, but it does, we are human. Sometimes, when we receive these messages, we are already emotionally destroyed after a tough defeat and they can be harmful."

García condemns the fact that platforms do not punish users who send such messages, as well as criticizing the type of harmful advertising they share: "Tournaments and sports continue to be associated with betting companies that keep attracting new people to unhealthy gambling. Here we are promoting betting companies that actively ruin some people's lives. I'm not saying they should be banned, as people are free to do what they want with their money, but maybe we shouldn't promote them. Also, if someone decided to say these things to me in public, they could have legal problems. So, why are we free to do what we want on the Internet? Shouldn't we reconsider online anonymity?"
