Aryna Sabalenka continues to advance steadily at Indian Wells. The world number one convincingly defeated Romanian Jaqueline Cristian with a score of 6-4, 6-1 in a quick match, lasting just over an hour, to secure her spot in the round of 16. The Belarusian dominated the match almost from start to finish and was only challenged towards the end of the first set when Cristian managed to break her serve just as Sabalenka was serving to close it out. However, Sabalenka reacted promptly, winning the set with a break in the following game and went on to comfortably claim the second set. Her next opponent in the round of 16 could be Naomi Osaka if she gets past Colombian Camila Osorio.
