Zheng and a surreal celebration: karaoke.

That tennis has welcomed back Qinwen Zheng is extraordinary news. The Chinese player was a prophet in her land and proclaimed champion of the WTA Beijing 2026, not without significant struggle: in addition to saving three set points in the first set, she was on the edge of her seat for almost the entire week, with four matches going to a third set and a final that was tight until its last moments.

Winning the title in this way, of course, unleashed the most genuine and fun Zheng. Qinwen's personality is as exotic as it is intriguing, capable of delivering memorable speeches after defeat but also bursting into an impromptu performance, perhaps, uncharacteristic of what we usually see from players from Asia. That almost innate talent emerged once again in the most unexpected way, reviving a nearly forgotten ritual in tennis during her celebration.

Zheng dares to sing right after winning the title in Beijing

Forget about boring post-match speeches and empty congratulations to sponsors. The joy and euphoria of winning the biggest title of your sports career at home unleashed Qinwen, who burst into song in the middle of the court, stealing the spotlight and creating a surreal moment. Almost a minute of karaoke, with the audience silent and a Zheng who enjoyed every moment, which will go down in history for a tournament that has seen it all... and that illustrates how necessary such a victory is for the Chinese.

Thus, with that image of pure happiness and the revival of karaoke as a method of celebration, Qinwen will head into the Wuhan tournament having returned to the top-20 and demonstrated to her home audience that yes, injuries will not stop their great star. Hopefully, we will have her at her best in a 2027 that promises to see her as another great protagonist in major venues.
