Despite ending up with cramps or on the verge of suffering greatly from them, Daniil Medvedev stayed strong to close his match with Alex De Miñaur in two sets and without too many complications. "The year has been very tough. I feel great now, happy to try to end on a high note. I love Shanghai, so I am happy to play good tennis here. It's not over yet; I will try to give my best in the semifinals.

I have already given a lot, but I am not sure if I am ready to give more for this. I just want to give my best. I gave my all throughout the year, and it was a very tough year. I wasn't playing at my best level, so I am happy that right now I am showing great tennis, great signs of my former self or my new self, and I am just looking for what's next."

"He is a very tough opponent. He is the kind of player who, when at his best, can beat anyone. His serve is incredible, and he strikes the ball very well. He is not the kind of player that, when at his best, you know you will still have chances during rallies. He will try to finish the point in two shots, so I will try to do the same, play well, and see how it goes."
