We are counting the hours until 9:00 PM in Spain to indulge in living the best tennis match of the moment on a Monday night. It's impossible not to have it when the two fiercest roosters come together. In a conversation with ATP Media a few days ago, the great Darren Cahill assessed some aspects of his pupil after accompanying him during the last three seasons, watching him evolve and reaching the sky in the form of titles and weeks as the world number one. Few people know better than he what the keys were for the Italian to reach the top of the circuit 14 months ago and not let go. The secret? There is no secret, just daily work and the conviction that there is always room for improvement. Training well, hence what happens in the matches.

"This is why we are so proud as coaches, because all the work we have been doing in the last three years finally shows up in the big matches, in the big tournaments, helping him always overcome the greatest challenges," acknowledges the 59-year-old Australian, one of the most prestigious coaches of the circuit in this century. "We are not talking about four or five days of experiments, here it is a combination of work that has taken us years, but we were always there, pushing him every day, making sure he kept doing the right things," adds the man who shares duties with Simone Vagnozzi since 2022.

THE SERVE, A KEY ELEMENT
