Australia defeats Great Britain, but they are eliminated from the United Cup 2025
Many will think that Australia only needed the victory to qualify for the quarterfinals of the United Cup 2025, but nothing could be further from the truth. The home team started the tie against Great Britain losing with Olivia Gadecki falling to Katie Boulter by 6-2 and 6-1. Then Alex De Miñaur leveled the match by defeating Billy Harris by 6-2 and 6-1. The Australian pair then had to win the match losing five games or fewer, something that didn't happen. Gadecki/De Miñaur won by 6-3 and 7-6(3), bidding farewell to the competition in the group stage.
